Site Engineer - Yorkshire

Are you a Site Engineer with experience in setting out and residential construction?

This role provides high-quality technical and engineering support across residential developments, ensuring safe, efficient and accurate delivery in line with approved designs, specifications, statutory requirements and company standards. Supporting setting out and construction of roads, drainage, foundations, earthworks and infrastructure, you will identify and resolve technical issues throughout construction, maintaining quality, programme and technical compliance.

The role:

Engineering & Setting Out

  • Undertake setting out and surveying for plots, boundaries, POS areas, roads and sewers.
  • Check levels, dimensions, coordinates, tolerances.
  • Oversee roads, drainage, private drainage, foundations, earthworks, utilities and other infrastructure.
  • Maintain and calibrate engineering and surveying equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate as built information and design overlays.

Technical & Design

  • Review drawings and identify discrepancies or potential issues before works commence.
  • Attend project meetings to discuss upcoming works and ensure the required information and approvals are in place.
  • Liaise with the Technical, consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and design issues.
  • Ensure works comply with approved designs, specification, Building Regulations and relevant standards.
  • Identify issues at an early stage and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.
  • Undertake cut and fill analysis, agree MMP storage areas with the Construction team.
  • Monitor cut and fill as the site progresses and prepare drawings detailing cut and fill and MMP compliance.
  • Manage and update MMPs in accordance with company procedures.

Site Support & Construction Delivery

  • Provide day to day engineering support to Site and Construction teams.
  • Support the Site Manager in monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays.
  • Assist with subcontractor and contractor coordination.
  • Support handover and completion of developments, ensuring engineering matters are resolved.

Quality, Compliance, Health & Safety

  • Carry out inspections and quality checks and maintain accurate engineering, measurement and site records.
  • Ensure works comply with approved designs, specifications, Building Regulations and relevant standards.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and legislation.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective relationships with Site, Technical, Commercial and Design teams as well as external consultants.
  • Liaise with consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and maintain progress.
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely engineering information.

About you:

We are looking for someone with a strong technical knowledge and practical, hands on approach to residential construction.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer or in a similar engineering role.
  • Experience of roads, drainage, foundations, earthworks and infrastructure.
  • Practical setting out experience and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience working to programmes/deadlines and maintaining accurate site records.
  • Knowledge of residential construction, technical detailing, Building Regulations, planning processes and NHBC standards.
  • Good knowledge of surveying, levels, coordinators and 3D site modelling.
  • Ability to work across Site, Technical, Commercial and Design teams, prioritise workloads and resolve technical issues.
