Salary
£33,000 - £35,000 depending on experience

About the Role
Our client is a well-established construction business delivering civil engineering and construction projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Site Engineer to join their Civils team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering requirements on site, including setting out works, coordinating subcontractors and operatives, managing technical information, and ensuring works are completed safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set out civil engineering and construction works accurately in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Ensure site teams and subcontractors carry out works to the required drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Complete quality procedures and inspection records for works including concrete, drainage, paving, and tarmac.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, including agreeing weekly measures and ensuring works are completed efficiently.
- Order and coordinate materials, providing accurate requirements and delivery dates to support procurement and project programming.
- Liaise with Site Supervisors, Foremen, and Construction Managers regarding labour and plant requirements.
- Coordinate and record dayworks and site instructions, ensuring additional works are properly documented and agreed.
- Maintain up-to-date drawings, drawing registers, technical information, and site documentation.
- Assist with RAMS, technical queries, progress reports, concrete testing, and monthly valuations.
- Liaise with the design team to ensure information is available ahead of construction activities and raise design clarifications where required.
- Support the updating of the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan and ensure completed works are inspected and agreed with the client.
- Assist with O&M manuals, project handover documentation, and the ongoing development of trainee engineers and team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve working practices, efficiency, and project delivery.

Position Requirements
- Relevant accredited engineering degree, ideally in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous construction or civil engineering experience would be advantageous.
- Strong technical understanding, including setting out and interpreting construction drawings.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how site decisions can affect project profitability.
- Strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- RAMS knowledge and SSSTS certification.
- Knowledge of excavation and temporary works.
- Relevant site safety qualifications including Asbestos Awareness, CAT & Genny, Environmental Awareness, Face Fit, Fire Safety Awareness, and Manual Handling.
- Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, health, and safety and continuous improvement.
