Site Engineer: Civil Engineering

Location: East Sussex / South East England

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) + Benefits Package

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading principal civil engineering contractor delivering a high-profile, multi-million-pound coastal restoration project along the South Coast.

This role involves delivering a blend of complex marine/coastal civil works, structural refurbishments, and high-spec public realm improvements. The successful candidate will play a critical role in site setting out, quality control, temporary works oversight, and managing subcontractors on a complex, Grade II*-listed historic infrastructure asset.

Key Responsibilities

Setting Out and Technical Control

  • Precise setting out of civil works, structural foundations, structural steel/cast iron frames, concrete elements, and public realm reconfigurations.
  • Interpreting working drawings, specifications, and CAD models to establish site controls and levels.
  • Conducting pre-construction and progress surveys, providing as-built drawings and reports.

Structural and Civil Operations

  • Supervising specialized subcontractors handling historic metalwork restoration, masonry repairs, deep foundations, and structural steel erection.
  • Managing the installation of new infrastructure, including structural deck refurbishments, lift shaft installations, and associated groundworks.
  • Implementing temporary works schemes in accordance with safety standards and structural engineer requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
