Site Engineer – Civil Engineering
Location: Cumbria – site based
Contract: Permanent, full time
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum plus additional benefits
We are seeking a Site Engineer to support the delivery of civil engineering works on a long-term nuclear infrastructure programme in Cumbria. This opportunity would suit an engineer with experience across highways, earthworks, drainage, utilities, or reinforced concrete construction.
Working alongside the site management team, you will provide engineering support to ensure construction activities are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake setting out, surveying, and checks on completed works.
- Review construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies and raising technical queries.
- Support the coordination of subcontractors, site operatives, and engineering activities.
- Prepare and maintain inspection and test plans, quality records, and as-built information.
- Assist with RAMS, construction methodology, and temporary works requirements.
- Monitor progress, identify potential delays, and report issues to the site management team.
- Maintain accurate site records and support inspections and handover activities.
- Follow project health, safety, environmental, and nuclear site procedures.

Essential requirements
- Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Previous Site Engineer experience within civil engineering construction.
- Competence in setting out using total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with quality assurance, inspections, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain the security clearance required for the project.

Desirable experience
- Previous work within nuclear or other highly regulated environments.
- Experience delivering major infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with temporary works and NEC contracts.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution or progress towards professional qualification.
