Site-Based Engineer | Cheshire | £38,000 (inclusive of shift pay)
If you've spent your career keeping machines running rather than just fixing them when they stop, this one's built around that mindset.
Our client is a global technology company serving banks and major retailers, the kind of equipment that underpins operations most people never think twice about. That's the job: be the reason it never gets noticed. You'll be based full-time on a customer site, which means you're not one engineer among many in a workshop. You're the face of the company for that customer, and they'll come to know you by name.
The work itself is a mix of reactive and planned maintenance. Something breaks, you diagnose it properly and fix it right the first time rather than patching it. Nothing's broken, you're running preventative maintenance to make sure it stays that way. Either way, you're managing your own parts stock, keeping the paperwork straight, and building the kind of relationship with the customer that makes them trust your judgement over anyone else's.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Genuine comfort working face-to-face with a customer, daily
- Confident with standard PC systems and MS Office
