About the Role
JGL is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Site Engineer to join our team in Luton, supporting the successful delivery of a key civil engineering project involving deep excavation, shaft and piling works.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Engineer seeking to develop their career on a challenging infrastructure scheme. You will work closely with the Site Agent and Senior Engineer to ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out setting out and surveying activities for all aspects of the works.
- Ensure construction activities are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Monitor piling and excavation works, ensuring compliance with design and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate site records, quality inspections, and as-built information.
- Support the management of subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Assist in preparing work packs, permits, inspection and test plans, and RAMS.
- Monitor progress against programme and report any issues or delays.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Liaise with site management, designers, and client representatives.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring temporary works.

Essential Requirements
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, infrastructure, or groundwork projects.
- Experience with excavation, drainage, reinforced concrete, or piling works.
- Strong setting out and surveying skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience
- Deep excavation or shaft construction projects.
- Piling and foundation works.
- Temporary works implementation.
- Experience using Leica or Trimble survey equipment.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work.
- NEC contract awareness.
