Site Engineer Opportunity with Gilbert-Ash
MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting a Site Engineer for our client, Gilbert-Ash, a leading construction contractor delivering high-quality projects across the UK and Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of major construction projects, providing technical support, setting out expertise and ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out accurate setting out and levelling of works in line with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Review and coordinate technical drawings, ensuring effective integration between design teams, subcontractors and site operations.
- Monitor quality control, inspections and testing of works and materials to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Support the delivery of projects in line with construction programmes, ensuring works progress efficiently and safely.
- Carry out checks before and after concrete pours and other key construction activities.
- Provide technical guidance to subcontractors, resolving issues and supporting day-to-day site operations.
- Maintain accurate site records, documentation and project information.
- Support health, safety, quality and environmental standards in line with company procedures.
- Assist with site inductions, toolbox talks and the ongoing development of a positive safety culture.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors and wider stakeholders.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer within the construction industry.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects within a main contractor environment.
- Strong knowledge of setting out, construction methods and technical coordination.
- Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors on complex projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages.
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Building Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND/Degree).
- CSR, CSCS or Safe Pass card required.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to projects across the UK and Ireland.

- Experience with Temporary Works Coordination.
- SSSTS/SMSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Professional membership with CIOB, ICE or equivalent.
