Job Description:
The Site Engineer plays a key part in the EV roll out through oversight and verification of the construction & commissioning activity performed by the contractor/sub-contractors appointed. The role will also act as the SPA for front line technical query support between the engineering team and installation contractors to support timely quality and schedule delivery and ensure that HSSE and quality expectations are implemented in line with bp policies and the project HSSE Plan / Quality Management Plan
Responsibilities:
- Apply in-depth subject knowledge as an independent practitioner in construction to act as the bp company representative for delivery of safe site construction / pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
- Support Project Lead in ensuring readiness to commence construction activities and readiness to handover to Run team. Communicate effectively any emerging site risks, potentials for schedule delays or opportunities to accelerate
- Act as the bp SPA for all Technical Queries during construction in support of quality resolution of issues through site activity and co-ordinating bp functional response.
- Accountable for safe, compliant delivery of the designed activities and follow steps within the construction/commissioning procedures defined within the Build CoE as per the quality expectations of the project
- Input into the risk management process held by the Project Lead to ensure clear documentation of all risks
- Support Go live delivery against installation performance management targets as per the overall project schedule
- Act as primary contact and first response to incidents, ensure protocol is followed and all teams are supported
- Maintain a close working relationship with Project Leads & Engineering and ensure they are successful with delivering their KPIs
- Liaise with contractors and bp procurement team to ensure call off of free issued equipment is in accordance with project schedules
- Oversight of contractor/sub-contractor activities as per the SV/Oversight Plans
- Support continuous improvement of procedures to support installation & commissioning activities
- Adhere to legal regulations as prescribed as per country specific legislation
- Execution & support of Risk assessments for site-based activities with the HSSE teams
- Readiness processes for Go/No-Go to commence Construction/Commissioning activity
- Review & approval of technical documentation / quality assurance of red-lined process through construction/commissioning
- Accountable for on-site HSE&C oversight, supported by HSE team
- Support the continuous improvement of technical practices and processes
- Comply with S&OR rules and support / advise S&OR on specific anticipated move or trends
- Support Interactions or contribute to negotiations with DNO/DSO and TSO.
- Support COE in development of OMS documentation and update of governance documentation

Education:
HNC / HND or equivalent in a STEM field.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience in industry with focus on construction, utility/ grid interconnection, electrical contractor duties and construction management
- A strong track record in leading construction delivery and civil installations across industrial installations
- A good understanding of electrical installations and relevant industrial guidelines.
- An understanding of the standards and protocols of the industry and bp processes
- Deep understanding of constructability and build methods
- Deep understanding of Mechanical completion and system handover processes
- Ability to problem-solve site specific issues under pressure through strong relationships
- Track record or performance managing and monitoring workmanship & validating quality of testing, inspections, commissioning, snagging
- Strong leadership in site HSE&C management and compliance
- Broad professional experience in engineering and project management delivery.
- Sound knowledge of EV charging technology and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of charging networks and how they are integrated.
