Job Description

Due to continued growth and an increasing workload across our civil engineering, earthworks and demolition operations, Tru7 is looking to build our network of experienced Site Engineers / Setting Out Engineers.

We are interested in speaking with engineers looking for both short-term and long-term opportunities, with a range of PAYE, CIS and day-rate options available depending on experience, project requirements and availability.

As a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer, you will play an important role in delivering projects safely, accurately and efficiently, with responsibility for surveying, setting out and supporting the delivery of groundworks, concrete bases, drainage, ducting, earthworks and general civil engineering works.

Key Requirements

  • Undertake surveying and setting out duties across civil engineering and earthworks projects.
  • Set out drainage, ducting, groundworks, concrete bases and general civils.
  • Work from engineering drawings, specifications and project information.
  • Check drawings, levels, dimensions and quantities.
  • Use GPS and surveying equipment accurately to support site delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain site records, including site diaries and as-built information.
  • Complete QA documentation and ensure testing requirements are followed.
  • Arrange and assist with the testing of materials where required.
  • Monitor site plant, labour and subcontractor activities.
  • Liaise with Site Managers, Project Managers, consultants, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Help plan and organise site operations to meet agreed programmes and deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and problems that arise during construction.
  • Contribute to site H&S and environmental requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation across your areas of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the wider site team to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
