The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Facilities Manager (Band 7) to join the Estates & Facilities Directorate within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a range of Soft Facilities Management services across Glasgow Royal Infirmary and, where required, support services across other sites within the locality.
You will have overall responsibility for Portering, Security, Administrative Services, Grounds and Car Parking, while also providing support to Domestic Services, Patient Catering and Retail Catering as required. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused services and driving continuous service improvement across multiple facilities disciplines.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
This is a permanent post.
The post is based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with the requirement to provide support across other sites within the locality as required.
Work Pattern
- Monday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Tuesday: 9:00am to 3:30pm
- Wednesday to Friday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Flexibility is required to meet service demands, including occasional unsocial hours.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide operational, strategic and professional leadership across a range of Facilities services, including Portering, Security, Logistics, Grounds Maintenance, Waste Management, Administrative Services and Car Parking. Responsibilities include day-to-day service management, budget management, workforce planning, performance monitoring and quality assurance, ensuring all services are delivered in line with Board policies, national standards and statutory legislation.
- Leading and developing multidisciplinary management teams, supporting service improvement initiatives, managing financial resources effectively, overseeing staff training and development, leading on health and safety compliance, risk management and fire safety, and maintaining strong working relationships with clinical colleagues, patients, external partners and stakeholders.
- The role also includes supporting organisational change, responding to service issues and complaints, contributing to policy development, supporting inspection processes and deputising for the Assistant Head of Facilities Operations as required.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Significant management experience within an acute healthcare setting or similarly complex organisation.
- Extensive experience across multiple Soft Facilities Management disciplines.
- Strong leadership, people management and organisational skills.
- Experience of budget management and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of Facilities Management legislation, standards and governance requirements.
- Understanding of health care policy, service delivery and patient-centred care.
- Knowledge of National Cleaning Standards, Food in Hospitals standards, waste management requirements and associated legislation.
- Experience managing performance, attendance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including COSHH, Fire Safety and Infection Control.
- Experience leading service improvement and organisational change programmes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience of staff training, development and performance review processes.
Desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence.
