About The Role
Balfour Beatty is growing our team in Derby and we’re looking for an experienced Site Foreman to join us on our major expansion project in partnership with Rolls-Royce.
This is a significant programme of works involving the expansion and development of a major operational site. You’ll play a key role in the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities, working closely with Site Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and the wider project team to ensure works are delivered to the required standards.
As a Foreman, you’ll be responsible for coordinating site activities and supervising our workforce and subcontractors on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands-on role where your leadership, organization, and ability to maintain high standards will be essential to successful project delivery.
What you'll be doing
As a Site Foreman, You Will:
- Supervising and coordinating site activities in accordance with the construction programme.
- Managing and directing site operatives and subcontractors.
- Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
- Working closely with the Site Manager and wider delivery team to plan and coordinate daily activities.
- Monitoring progress and identifying any issues that could impact programme or productivity.
- Ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and RAMS.
- Conducting daily briefings and ensuring the workforce understands planned activities and site requirements.
Who we're looking for
You Will Have The Following:
- Previous experience working as a Foreman or General Foreman on a major construction or civil engineering project.
- Strong knowledge of construction activities, site supervision, and safe systems of work.
- Experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors.
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery.
- Relevant site-based qualifications, such as SSSTS/SMSTS, would be advantageous.
- A relevant trade or construction background is desirable.
