Job Purpose
The Site General Repair Craftsperson is responsible for supporting day-to-day site and building maintenance activities, ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained working environment. The role covers a wide range of general repairs, HazardID actions, office maintenance tasks, and small improvement projects. This position replaces an external contractor to improve cost efficiency, accountability, and the overall standard of work delivered across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- General Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out routine building maintenance and minor repair works across site facilities.
- Perform basic multi-trade tasks (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, painting, basic electrical work where appropriate).
- Maintain office areas, welfare facilities, and general infrastructure.
- Hazard Identification & Safety Actions
- Support the close-out of HazardID and safety observations in a timely manner.
- Identify potential risks and proactively implement corrective measures.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with site health & safety policies.
- Site Support & Improvement Works
- Complete small improvement projects to enhance the working environment.
- Assist with office modifications, layout changes, and general upgrades.
- Support facilities-related requests from different departments.
- Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Respond quickly to reactive maintenance requirements across the site.
- Support planned preventative maintenance activities where required.
- Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Tools, Equipment & Housekeeping
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe, and organised.
- Manage basic stock of maintenance materials and consumables.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Record completed work and report progress to the Facilities Manager.
- Flag recurring issues or potential improvements.
- Support tracking and closure of maintenance tasks.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in general building maintenance or a similar hands-on role.
- Strong practical skills across multiple trades (e.g., mechanical, basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing).
- Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial environment.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices.

Desirable
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Experience working with maintenance management systems.
- Knowledge of site services or facilities operations.
