Job Summary

Are you an experienced senior HR leader looking for an opportunity to influence workforce strategy at both Trust and Group level?

We are seeking an exceptional Site HR Director to join Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment. As a key member of the Trust leadership team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all workforce, organisational development, employee relations and people matters, supporting the delivery of safe, inclusive and effective services.

Reporting to the Group Chief People Officer and working closely with the Trust Managing Director, you will lead the local delivery of the BSW Hospitals Group People Strategy while also holding a Group portfolio for HR Operations, with responsibility for key services including Resourcing and Employee Relations across the Group.

Main duties of the job

  • You will also lead the HR Business Partner team at Great Western Hospitals, ensuring high-quality people support to services across the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape workforce transformation, drive organisational performance, strengthen staff engagement and wellbeing, and lead significant people initiatives across a complex NHS environment. The successful candidate will bring substantial senior HR leadership experience, strong strategic and political awareness, and a proven ability to influence at an Executive level.

Job Description

Job responsibilities

The Site People Director will lead local workforce and OD delivery within the BSW Hospitals Group ("the Group"), providing strategic and operational leadership for all people-related matters within their Trust. As a key member of the senior leadership (including the Executive team) the role will support safe, inclusive, and effective service delivery through workforce planning, culture change, organisational development, and employee relations.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training And Experience Essential

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and Social Care, Regional and National teams and individual provider and commissioning organisations
  • Membership with CIPD with FCIPD or MCIPD.
