Role – Site HSE Lead

Location – Luton

Mint Selection are partnered with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Site HSE Lead for a major construction project in Luton.

The position will coordinate day-to-day health, safety and environmental activities on site, acting as the primary point of contact for contractors on HSE matters. Reporting to the HSEQ Manager – Construction, you will provide visible leadership, monitor site performance and drive incident reduction through workforce engagement, coaching and effective implementation of HSE processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead site HSE initiatives and coordinate contractor HSE activities, setting clear expectations for standards and performance.
• Maintain a visible site presence, engaging with managers, supervisors and workers to recognise good practice and address unsafe behaviours.
• Attend morning job starts, meetings and briefings, and lead stand-downs, hazard identification sessions, risk assessments and incident reviews.
• Coordinate site HSE data, reporting, planning and analysis, producing clear monthly reports on performance and trends.
• Monitor client and contractor safety performance against agreed leading and lagging indicators, identifying gaps and driving improvements.
• Participate in incident investigations, undertake 5-why analysis and support detailed root cause analysis where required.
• Assign and track corrective actions, sharing lessons learned and good practice across the site.
• Manage site Emergency Response Plans, ensuring suitable provisions are in place and tested through drills and training.
• Support health and wellbeing initiatives, including health monitoring and drug and alcohol testing.
• Ensure environmental controls are in place to manage spills, discharges, noise and land encroachment.
• Monitor environmental performance and support incident investigations and improvement actions.
• Support Business Management System requirements, audits and continual improvement activities.
