Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: York

Salary: £55k plus overtime + call outs

Hours: 40 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established manufacturing business based in the York area that is looking to appoint an experienced Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its busy engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a fast-paced production environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining plant performance, minimizing downtime and supporting ongoing site improvement projects.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the manufacturing site through a combination of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with established schedules.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance requirements to minimize production downtime and disruption.
  • Supporting engineering activities focused on improving plant and equipment performance.
  • Identifying technical issues and implementing effective engineering solutions.
  • Supporting and overseeing engineering improvement projects across the site.
  • Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of engineering standards for key equipment and facilities.
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of Health & Safety at all times.
  • Supporting site development projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing engineering support to colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment.
  • Participating in the on-call rota, including approximately 1 in 3 weekends.
  • Taking a lead role within the engineering team, helping to motivate and develop colleagues.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background gained within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment, with experience across both mechanical and electrical machinery.

You will be a hands-on, practical engineer who is confident diagnosing faults, resolving breakdowns and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience and qualifications.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • A full driving licence.
