Site Manager – HMP Liverpool

Are you a Site Manager looking for your next opportunity with a leading Tier 1 contractor?
Wates Construction is looking for a Site Manager to join our team at HMP Liverpool, helping to deliver construction works within a live custodial environment.
This is a great opportunity for a Site Manager who enjoys taking ownership of site delivery, coordinating multiple work packages and maintaining excellent standards of safety, quality and programme performance.
The Role
As Site Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction activities, working alongside the wider project team, supply chain partners and key stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing and coordinating day-to-day site activities and subcontractors
- Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with project health and safety requirements
- Monitoring progress against programme and identifying and resolving potential issues
- Maintaining high standards of quality throughout the works
- Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractor activities
- Managing individual work packages from commencement through to completion
- Carrying out site inspections, briefings and progress reviews
- Working closely with Project Managers, commercial teams, design teams and other site colleagues
- Building positive relationships with our supply chain and project stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate site records and documentation
- Promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the project

What We're Looking For
We're Looking For a Site Manager Who Can Demonstrate
- Previous Site Management experience within construction
- Main contractor or Tier 1 construction experience
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and site management
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work packages
- A strong understanding of health and safety requirements
- Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
- The ability to problem-solve and make effective decisions in a busy site environment
- A collaborative approach to working with colleagues, supply chain partners and stakeholders
Qualifications:
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- Relevant First Aid qualification
Previous experience working within custodial, secure, government or other complex live environments would be advantageous, but we're also interested in hearing from Site Managers with strong transferable experience from other construction sectors.

Important: Security Clearance
As HMP Liverpool is a live prison environment, this role is subject to the successful completion and ongoing maintenance of the necessary security and prison clearances.
The required vetting and clearance process will form part of the recruitment and onboarding process, and appointment to the role will be conditional upon the relevant clearances being obtained.
