The Opportunity
Sphere Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join an established main contractor delivering construction, fit-out and refurbishment works on the Hinkley Point C project in Somerset.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong main contractor background who is experienced in managing construction activities within a complex, highly regulated environment.
The successful candidate will join a contractor with extensive experience delivering commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out and turnkey projects, including work within highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence and pharmaceutical environments. The business has also delivered significant construction and accommodation works directly on the Hinkley Point C project, where careful planning, logistics, stakeholder coordination, quality and safety are essential.
The role will be based on the Hinkley Point C site and will operate to HPC site working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site.
- Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and specialist trades.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the agreed programme.
- Manage construction activities in line with approved drawings, specifications and RAMS.
- Coordinate multiple trades and interfaces within a busy live construction environment.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
- Manage site logistics, materials, plant and deliveries.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and monitor performance.
- Carry out regular site inspections and ensure works are completed to the required quality standards.
- Work closely with the project management, engineering and commercial teams.
- Identify potential programme, quality and safety issues and ensure these are addressed promptly.
- Ensure site documentation, permits, inspections and records are maintained correctly.
- Lead toolbox talks, briefings and site coordination meetings where required.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Assist with snagging, completion and handover activities.
- Liaise with the client, project team and other contractors to ensure effective coordination of works.

About You
We are looking for a Site Manager who has a genuine main contractor background and is comfortable taking responsibility for construction delivery on a major and highly regulated project.
You should be confident managing subcontractors and site teams, interpreting construction information and maintaining control of programme, quality, health and safety and site logistics.
Experience within nuclear, major infrastructure, industrial, commercial or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
Previous experience working at Hinkley Point C would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong major-project experience and the right background will also be considered.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Site Manager for a main contractor.
- Strong construction management experience.
- Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
- SMSTS – essential.
- CSCS – essential.
- First Aid – essential.
- Strong understanding of construction health and safety.
- Ability to work from drawings, specifications and RAMS.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy site environment.
- Willingness and ability to work Hinkley Point C site hours.

About The Project Environment
Hinkley Point C is a complex and highly regulated construction environment where strong site management is critical. Previous project delivery in this environment has included fast-track construction and modular accommodation facilities, with challenging logistics, lifting operations, interfaces with existing facilities, pedestrian and vehicle routes, and strict safety controls.
The contractor's wider experience includes construction, fit-out, refurbishment, design and build and turnkey delivery, with particular expertise in environments where compliance, precision, quality and safety are fundamental to successful project delivery.
