Site Manager: Freelance

Crewe, Cheshire

GBP270 / day

Freelance

We are currently looking for a driven and experienced Freelance Site Manager to take the lead on the internal fit:out of a brand:new apartment block based in Crewe.

Coming onto the project at the shell stage, you will take full ownership of the internal works, driving the project through 1st and 2nd fix, right up to final snagging and successful client handover. We need a strong leader who can maintain momentum, enforce strict health and safety standards, and ensure a high:quality finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the complete fit:out phase of a new:build apartment block from shell to handover.
  • Coordinating, managing, and driving all sub:contractors and site trades to ensure they meet program deadlines.
  • Taking strict ownership of Health and Safety on site, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Conducting daily briefings, site inductions, and regular toolbox talks.
  • Managing the QA process, with a sharp eye for detail during the final finishing and snagging stages.
  • Maintaining accurate site diaries, progress reports, and associated documentation.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager to ensure smooth delivery.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven Experience: A strong track record as a No.1 Site Manager overseeing high:volume residential or apartment fit:outs from shell to completion.
  • Core Qualifications: You must hold a valid SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold preferred), and a 3:day First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Trade Background: A trade background (e.g., carpentry/joinery) is highly advantageous for understanding fit:out sequencing, though not strictly essential.
  • Leadership: Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently push sub:contractors and maintain site discipline.
  • Quality Focused: You must know what a good finish looks like and have the rigor to enforce it during the final weeks of the project
