JOB DESCRIPTION
Costain have won extensive work across the water sector to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Severn Trent Water (STW) as one of several strategic partners to the to deliver an allocated portfolio of projects. Costain scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the Midlands region (South Birmingham / Gloucester) covered by STW. Projects vary in value from £5m to £100m covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites.
This role will be site based.

Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination of sub-contractor activities, including chairing regular coordination meetings with staff and subcontractors
- Ensuring project documentation is completed for handover and Non-Conformance Reports are issued when required
- Studying drawings and technical documents and raising technical queries for clarification of any conflicting information
- Overall compliance with Health & Safety Legislation, Company Policy, and best practice throughout the construction/commissioning process and liaising with the project manager to maintain the Site Risk Register
- Ensuring all site supervisors including subcontractors have adequate training and resources to carry out their roles as well as ensuring education and training on recognition of hazards and control measures
- Managing inductions and toolbox talks and coordinating H&S and site progress meetings
- Managing site rules and emergency procedures, obtaining, and issuing all permits, as required
- Ensuring accurate signing of all site hazards during construction
- Detailed programming of site activities in conjunction with sub-contractors and the Solution Manager

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Recognised Engineering/Site Management Qualifications
- Appointed Person Lifting
- Appointed Person Mechanical
- Understanding of Engineering Principles
Desirable
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (CITB)
Essential Qualifications
- Engineering/Site Management Qualifications
- CSCS Managers Card
- Minimum of SMSTS
- Health, Safety and Environmental Management (IOSH or Construction Managers Safety Certificate)
- Full UK Driving License
Desirable
- First Aid and MH First Aid (dependent on role)
