Job Title

Location: West Midlands, Coventry

Immediate start & ongoing contract

Job Type: Contract, Full-Time hours Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm

Industry: Construction - new build housing

Salary: £28 - £31 per hour

Job Duties

  • Plan, organise and manage all aspects of construction sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Supervise and coordinate site activities, including subcontractors, suppliers, and labour teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress on site and maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and daily site activities.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, company policies and best practise.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, architects and engineers to address any issues or changes during construction.
  • Manage resources effectively, including labour, materials, plant and equipment, to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, site diaries and other documentation as required by the contract.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings to maintain high standards of site safety and workforce engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable construction practises where applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Education

  • Minimum of a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Proven experience managing new build housing projects within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering residential developments on time and to budget.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams on medium to large scale projects.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and health and safety regulations relevant to new build housing.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and contracts.
  • Proficient in site reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to lead and motivate site teams to achieve high standards of performance and safety.

Working Conditions

  • The role requires regular attendance on construction sites across the West Midlands area, predominantly in Coventry.
  • Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Typical working hours are full-time; however, some flexibility may be required to meet project demands, including occasional overtime.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times on site.
  • The role involves physical activity including walking, standing for extended periods and occasional manual handling.
