Do you have a proven track record in operational site management and a sharp eye for compliance, security and process excellence? Step into this exciting leadership role at Luton Airport, where operational excellence, supply chain efficiency and regulatory precision go hand in hand!

We are currently recruiting for a Site Manager

You will be responsible for the safe and effective management of the operation through strong leadership of colleagues, equipment, security processes and operational activities, ensuring positive outcomes in health and safety, performance, compliance, customer service and commercial objectives.

The consolidation centre

The consolidation centre plays a critical role in the airport retail supply chain, managing inbound and outbound goods for airport retail stores. The operation handles a diverse range of products, including duty-free goods, perfumes, alcohol, souvenirs, food and beverage products, clothing and electrical items. The successful candidate will oversee all warehouse operations, from goods receipt and security screening through to dispatch.

Job details

This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis. Due to the operational needs of the business, flexibility is required. Working hours are 8 hours per day, scheduled between 06:00 and 17:00, Monday to Friday, depending on operational demands.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £50,000.00 per annum and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day

  • Take overall responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient running of the site operation
  • Achieving high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in goods receiving and despatching goods in line with the agreed schedule
  • Management of legal and operational compliance for the department
  • Oversee operational and legal compliance, including aviation security requirements and warehouse standards
  • Organising available resources to maximise effectiveness of the operation
  • Management, control, and reporting of all costs, KPIs and operational statistics within budget
  • Effective communication with the customer and internal colleagues
  • Monitoring and maintaining all written security check records to ensure compliance, scheduling random checks and addressing any deficiencies that arise

What you need to succeed at GXO

  • Proven experience in a Site Manager role, ideally within an airport consignment centre environment; logistics sector experience is essential
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams, driving performance, handling disciplinary, absence and grievance processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, resource planning, and delivering operational KPIs
  • Excellent decision-making, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively under pressure
  • Strong communication, reporting and IT skills, with a proactive approach to Health & Safety, stakeholder management, and maintaining high levels of confidentiality
  • IOSH qualification desirable. If you do not currently hold IOSH certification, GXO will support the successful candidate with the relevant training and development
