We’re working with an established specialist roofing and construction business that is looking for an experienced Site Manager to take full ownership of project delivery across London and the South East.
This is a genuine site leadership role for someone who takes pride in getting things done properly, safely, to programme, to specification and with a strong focus on quality.
You’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of roofing and associated construction projects, while leading subcontractors, managing site-level commercial risk and developing the people around you.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover, with responsibility for:
- Taking overall responsibility for safe, quality and programme-compliant project delivery
- Managing roofing and associated construction works across live sites
- Leading and managing subcontractors to ensure they deliver against programme, specification and H&S requirements
- Identifying project delays and putting recovery plans in place where required
- Ensuring all work meets drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements
- Managing associated works including rooflights, smoke vents, solar PV, green and blue roofs, metalwork, cappings and scaffolding interfaces
- Identifying defects, investigating root causes and implementing remedial solutions
- Maintaining accurate inspection records, checklists and project sign-offs
- Managing project completion and handover with a strong focus on achieving zero outstanding defects
- Owning the site's health & safety culture and challenging unsafe practices immediately
- Conducting regular site inspections and ensuring corrective actions are followed through to completion
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and implementing preventative measures
- Ensuring compliance with RAMS, CDM, Working at Height Regulations and relevant statutory requirements
- Identifying and recording variations, scope changes and commercial risks promptly
- Providing accurate site information to support valuations and job costing
- Attending project reviews and contributing meaningful commercial insight
- Building strong, professional relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Supporting and developing Trainee and Assistant Site Managers through coaching and practical feedback

About You
We’re looking for an experienced Site Manager who is confident taking ownership of live construction projects and isn't afraid to make decisions, challenge poor standards or escalate issues when necessary.
You'll ideally have:
- Current SMSTS certification
- Proven experience independently managing roofing, cladding or associated construction projects
- Strong subcontractor management experience
- A solid understanding of CDM Regulations and site management responsibilities
- Experience identifying and managing project variations
- Strong understanding of health & safety and quality requirements
- Experience using digital site management systems such as SafetyCulture, iAuditor or similar
- Excellent communication skills across clients, subcontractors and internal teams
- A full UK driving licence

Desirable
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- NVQ Level 3+ in Roofing, Construction Management or a related discipline
- Manufacturer accreditation in relevant roofing systems
- First Aid at Work certification
- Experience working on public sector, defence, education or healthcare projects
- Experience within framework contract environments
- An ILM Level 3 or equivalent leadership qualification
