About The Role

Reporting to senior management, the successful candidate will oversee daily operations on construction projects throughout Exeter and the wider South West region. This full-time, permanent position with RGB Recruitment offers a salary of £50,000 to £55,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Key duties for this Site Manager role include managing subcontractors, enforcing strict health and safety regulations, and ensuring work complies with programme schedules and quality standards. Applicants must demonstrate proven experience in a similar capacity, ideally with a Tier One contractor, alongside strong leadership and communication skills. The position requires excellent organisational abilities to coordinate multiple trades effectively. Relevant industry certifications, such as SMSTS and CSCS, are essential for this post.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of your project, working closely with the Project Manager and wider team to ensure the works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest standards of quality.

You will play a key role in coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors and site teams, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site operations
  • Lead and motivate site teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered efficiently and to programme
  • Coordinate labour, materials, plant and resources to support successful project delivery
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality throughout the project
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify and resolve issues before they impact delivery
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and contractual requirements
  • Contribute to a collaborative and positive site culture

About You

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with a strong main contracting background and a proven track record of delivering large-scale Design & Build projects.

You Will Ideally Have

  • Experience working for a Tier One or leading main contractor
  • A proven track record of delivering complex construction projects
  • Experience across sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Retail, MoJ or Listed Buildings
  • Valid CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid at Work
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, health and safety and quality standards
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The confidence to lead site teams and work effectively with clients and key stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a genuine commitment to delivering high standards
