Job Title: Site Manager

Reports To: Construction Manager

Location: Saltend

Department: Projects

The Role

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Manager is responsible for managing sites and Mechanical, Piping, EC&I, Civil and Structural site teams. This includes planning for mobilisation, coordination of construction activities and contractors, staff site inductions and, where required, ensuring the necessary welfare, documentation and plant are in place to ensure site works commence on time and are adequately resourced in line with project schedules, budgets and deliverables.

The Site Manager is also responsible for the safety, wellbeing and welfare of staff and contractors, and holds overall responsibility for ensuring that site installation deliverables are achieved on time, while achieving ZERO Harm and full compliance with px Group SHE requirements. The role is full time, days based, with frequent travel to site required, including the expectation of intermittent overseas travel.

Key Responsibilities

Site Planning & Operations

  • Complete daily and weekly planning, and re-planning as required, of all site based activities, providing progress reports to the Project Manager and Construction Manager, and weekly SHE updates in line with current policies
  • Plan and direct daily site operations, including mechanical, civil and electrical works
  • Manage and maintain work schedules, reporting planned versus actual progress
  • Collaborate with and direct the Project Support team to ensure site deliveries are controlled and sequenced to support installation requirements
  • Manage the purchasing of equipment, plant and spares to ensure sites run smoothly

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to and promotion of ZERO Harm policies and procedures, including CDM and Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensure toolbox talks and relevant safety themes are delivered to site personnel
  • Coordinate Permits to Work, Hot Works, Working at Height and any other site-specific permits
  • Deliver daily task briefings and Point of Work assessments to site operatives, coordinating Dynamic Risk Assessments as required
  • Create, manage and update H&S files and all site CDM requirements
  • Oversee site security and environmental compliance

Subcontractor & Risk Management

  • Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, Scope of Works and Lift Plans, identifying opportunities and mitigating risks prior to commencement on site

Quality, Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Record and manage attendance records/hours of the site team, plant used, weather and any delays
  • Manage client and contractor relationships
  • Define, monitor and report on the status of milestones and deliverables
  • Conduct regular site audits and support site and process audits from the wider px team
  • Facilitate daily team meetings and client meetings effectively
  • Resolve issues relating to quality on live sites, as well as sites with active warranty

Zero Harm, Competence & Behaviours

  • Contribute to ensuring awareness of, and compliance with, px Group Zero Harm health, safety and risk management standards, policies and practices
  • Review and agree to the Zero Harm Charter
  • Consistently demonstrate compliance with all MP1 behaviours in line with the px Behavioural Competency Framework
  • Maintain a sufficient level of competence for the role, attending all required training and maintaining professional qualifications as required

The Person

  • HNC/HND qualified in a technical or engineering discipline
  • Formal Site Management qualification (CSCS Black or equivalent)
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification
  • EMSS Safety Passport qualification
  • Knowledge of COSHH
  • Slinger/Signaller/Banksman qualification
  • Site Manager experience, including experience of producing key site documents such as Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Lift Plans
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Confident decision maker, able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to coordinate work carried out by different people, departments and organisations
  • Strong computer skills, including experience of MS Office applications
  • Able to travel in the UK and overseas as required
