Construction Site Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Construction Site Manager to join a highly successful Tier 1 contractor delivering a complex industrial refurbishment project near Glasgow. This is a technically demanding scheme requiring strong site leadership, excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams in a live and challenging environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring that construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme, quality and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day site operations across a complex industrial refurbishment project.
  • Supervising site teams, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
  • Coordinating civil, structural and associated building works.
  • Ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
  • Planning and coordinating site activities, logistics, access and sequencing.
  • Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, RAMS and other project information.
  • Leading daily briefings, coordination meetings and short-term planning activities.
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining a strong focus on productivity and delivery.
  • Identifying and resolving technical, logistical and site-based challenges.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager, design team, commercial team, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Ensuring inspections, permits, quality records and site documentation are completed accurately.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance.
  • Supporting the effective handover and completion of the works.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager on major construction, refurbishment or industrial projects.
  • A strong background working for a Tier 1 main contractor.
  • Experience delivering complex industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy or technically demanding refurbishment schemes.
  • A good understanding of civil and structural construction works.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, programmes and RAMS.
  • Strong knowledge of site management, construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • The confidence to work autonomously and make sound decisions on site.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Relevant construction qualifications, such as an HNC, HND or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A valid SMSTS qualification and relevant site safety certification.
  • A suitable CSCS card for the role.
  • First Aid at Work and Temporary Works Coordinator experience would be advantageous.
