Job Overview
The Site Manager's role is to oversee the daily operation of the Fed Ex aviation security contract, ensuring safe, secure, and efficient service delivery. Ensure all security activities are conducted in accordance with aviation security regulations, cargo screening requirements, company policies, and client standards. Monitor operational performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and compliance checks. Lead operational planning for peak periods, disruption management, and contingency responses. Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
Main Duties
Operations
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client, and stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with Fed Ex management, regulatory bodies, and customer representatives.
- Attend client meetings, operational reviews, and performance forums.
- Produce and present performance reports and improvement plans.
- Ensure client expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Maintain full compliance with all aviation security regulations and statutory requirements.
- Ensure all personnel possess the required screening competencies, certifications, and security clearances.
- Support audits conducted by regulatory authorities and clients.
- Investigate security incidents, breaches, and non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a strong security culture throughout the operation.
- Lead, develop, and motivate operational teams.
- Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary meetings, investigations, and welfare discussions where required.
- Coach and mentor supervisors to achieve operational excellence.
- Ensure employee engagement, retention, and development objectives are achieved.
- Drive a culture of accountability, professionalism, and customer service.
Training
- Ensure all aviation security training records remain current and compliant.
- Monitor mandatory training completion rates.
- Support employee development through coaching and succession planning.
- Work closely with training teams to ensure aviation regulatory training requirements are maintained.

Security and Health & Safety
- Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
- Lead investigations into operational incidents and security breaches.
- Produce detailed incident reports and recommendations.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous Security management experience
- Minimum of 5 year UK work history
- Previous experience managing large security operations within an airport, airline, cargo, or aviation environment desirable.
- Experience managing regulatory compliance within an aviation setting.
- SIA License
- CTC Clearance desirable
- The successful candidate must possess a strong aviation background with operational knowledge of:
- Cargo screening.
- Access control systems.
- Airside security requirements.
- Aviation regulatory compliance.
- Incident and emergency response procedures.
- Security risk management within aviation environments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- High level of operational and commercial awareness.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Strong understanding of aviation security legislation and best practice.
- Competent in Microsoft Office 365 and operational reporting systems.
