Role Description

The Site Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Stoke-On-Trent, responsible for overseeing daily operations on construction and utility sites. This position coordinates site activities, manages teams and subcontractors, and ensures work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Site Manager monitors project progress, maintains site documentation, and communicates regularly with clients, project managers, and suppliers. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role also involves supporting quality control, managing resources and materials, and contributing to continuous improvement of site processes and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Experience in site management within construction, utilities, or civil engineering environments, including supervision of on-site teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, manage schedules, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a track record of promoting and enforcing safe working practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, colleagues, and external partners and to provide clear instructions on site.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation, and in maintaining accurate site records.
  • Proficiency with basic digital tools and project-related software for reporting, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Relevant construction or civil engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or degree) and professional certifications such as SMSTS or SSSTS are highly beneficial.
  • Proven ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt to changing project requirements.
