Site Manager (Hands On)

Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire
Contract Length: 3 weeks
Start Date: Monday 12 October 2026
Rate: £275 per day
Sector: Commercial Refurbishment / Roofing / Fit-Out

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager / Site Supervisor to oversee a 3-week refurbishment project in Biggleswade.

The project involves roof replacement and internal fit-out works within an occupied building, including cut-and-carve works. The successful candidate will take day-to-day responsibility for site operations, coordinating trades and subcontractors while ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full day-to-day responsibility for site operations and supervision.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour and deliveries.
  • Manage roof replacement and internal fit-out works within an occupied building.
  • Ensure works are properly planned and carried out in accordance with RAMS.
  • Maintain all required site paperwork, records and daily reports.
  • Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular site inspections.
  • Monitor health & safety, quality and progress throughout the works.
  • Manage the interface between the construction works and building occupants.
  • Ensure the site remains clean, safe and secure throughout the project.
  • Identify and resolve issues quickly to maintain programme.
  • Liaise with the project team and provide regular progress updates.
  • Ensure works are completed to the required standard and within the 3-week programme.

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager, Site Supervisor or similar.
  • Strong refurbishment / fit-out experience.
  • Previous experience with roofing or external refurbishment works highly desirable.
  • Experience working within occupied/live buildings.
  • Comfortable with cut-and-carve refurbishment works.
  • Strong understanding of RAMS, H&S and site documentation.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS required.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Must be confident managing subcontractors and taking ownership of the site.
  • Available to start Monday 12 October.
