We have a new opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Industrial Biomass team, taking operational leadership of our biomass steam systems across the Cargill and Exolum sites. Leading the on-site team, you’ll take ownership of safety, compliance, asset performance and reliability, ensuring our plants deliver the heat our customers depend on while driving efficiency, controlling costs and maintaining the highest HSEQ standards.

The role will involve
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the on-site team, providing line management, direction, mentoring and development support to ensure team members are clear on their objectives and perform effectively.
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping across the sites, including audits, risk assessments and method statements, and ensuring concerns are addressed and escalated where required.
- Ensuring ongoing compliance with requirements relating to steam systems, electrical generation, high voltage equipment, environmental permits, planning conditions, RHI requirements and relevant legislation.
- Ensuring biomass boilers achieve agreed efficiency, availability and heat generation targets across the Cargill and Exolum sites.
- Planning and managing site shutdowns for maintenance, inspections, testing and pipework activities, minimising disruption and maintaining asset availability.
- Overseeing troubleshooting, installations, reactive works, plant defects, spares management and biomass fuel supply to maximise plant performance and continuity of service.
- Managing the on-call rota and ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to respond effectively to heating outages, loss of service and out-of-hours emergencies.
- Managing the operation and maintenance budget for the assets, monitoring expenditure and ensuring costs are effectively controlled within agreed budgets.
- Managing and overseeing subcontractors delivering operation and maintenance activities, capital works, upgrades and repairs, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients, client engineering and maintenance teams, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate site records and reporting relating to fuel supply, maintenance, testing, HSEQ incidents, audits, risk assessments, operational performance and stakeholder updates.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve site safety, reliability, efficiency, availability and overall operational performance.
- Representing AMP at client meetings and providing site updates and presentations at management meetings when required

What we are looking for
An experienced engineering professional with demonstrable experience of managing plant in a demanding industrial environment, combining strong technical knowledge with confident leadership and a clear focus on safety, reliability and operational performance.
- Demonstrable experience of managing heat generation, energy or process plant within a large industrial environment.
- Proven experience of leading and developing engineering or operational teams and driving high performance.
- A relevant mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualification, together with health and safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Strong technical knowledge of steam and heat systems, plant controls and associated mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Demonstrable experience of managing planned and reactive maintenance, plant shutdowns, faults and operational issues.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to take ownership and respond effectively in a live operational environment.
- Proven experience of managing contractors, operational budgets and costs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal teams.
- A proactive, results-focused approach with a track record of improving safety, reliability, efficiency and overall plant performance.

Additional information
- Location: AMP, Cargills, Oak Road, Hull, HU6 7PG with regular travel to the Exolum site as required.
- Salary: Competitive to be discussed at interview.
- Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, with occasional out-of-hours work required to support the team as needed.
