Site Operations Manager

Ipswich | Manufacturing / Chemical Industry
£45,000 - £50,000

Our client is a successful, family-run business operating across the agriculture sectors, developing science-led solutions that help protect vital resources and create a more sustainable future.
They are looking to appoint an experienced Site Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of their Ipswich site.
If you are an experienced operational leader with a background in industrial manufacturing, chemicals or a similarly regulated environment, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

The Role

You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the bulk storage site, ensuring that people, processes, equipment and resources are effectively managed to deliver business objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking overall responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors and visitors across the site.
  • Leading site performance against agreed business, operational and safety objectives.
  • Managing raw materials, finished products and external storage facilities, ensuring robust and accurate stock control.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with relevant HSE, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Developing a strong culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, identifying opportunities to improve safety, productivity, efficiency and quality.
  • Effectively managing people, equipment, materials and resources in line with production requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate production, stock, compliance and performance records and providing regular reporting to senior management.
  • Working collaboratively with Commercial and Distribution teams to ensure customer requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Managing suppliers, contractors and vendors involved in site operations.
  • Ensuring the site remains compliant with applicable UK legislation, environmental requirements and chemical industry standards.

We are looking for a confident and approachable operational leader who can combine strong people management skills with a disciplined approach to safety, compliance and performance.

You are likely to have:

  • Proven leadership experience within an industrial manufacturing environment; experience within the chemical, fuel or bulk storage sector would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety, environmental and quality management systems.
  • Experience working within a regulated or compliance-driven manufacturing environment.
  • A proven track record of operational leadership, team management and employee development.
  • Ideally, NEBOSH NGC or an equivalent occupational health and safety qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Most importantly, you will be a hands-on, collaborative and credible leader who can build strong relationships while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, discipline and operational performance.
