Salary: £29 - £31 per hour
We are looking for a freelance Site Manager to manage a new build housing development in Coventry. This role requires a hands-on individual who can oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Job Duties
- Plan, organise, and control all activities on site to ensure smooth progress of the new build housing development.
- Manage site resources effectively, including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a positive safety culture on site.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain good working relationships.
- Monitor quality standards throughout the construction process to ensure work meets contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and manage potential risks to programme and budget, taking proactive measures to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
- Lead site meetings and toolbox talks to communicate progress, expectations, and site rules to all personnel.

Required Qualifications
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card appropriate to site management.
- Current First Aid qualification.
- Full UK Driving License
Experience
- Proven experience managing new build housing projects on site, preferably within the West Midlands region.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades effectively.

Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and health and safety legislation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and manage site teams.
- Competent in the use of site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Sound organisational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions
- Work is predominantly outdoors and on active construction sites, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Regular site inspections in varying weather conditions.
- Compliance with site safety protocols and company policies is mandatory.
