Site Manager
Telford & Wrekin Council
Permanent – 30 hours per week (Mon-Fri 9.30am - 4pm)
Location: Haughton School (Madeley, Telford)
Term Time + 4 weeks
NJC Scale 5 (£15.56 - £16.61 per hour)

Haughton School is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management, security and maintenance of our school site.
Haughton School is a Primary Special School for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs.
Children also have additional needs that may relate to communication & interaction difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, sensory and physical / medical needs.
About The Role
This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days will be quite the same.
Working closely with the School Business Manager, Headteacher and Caretaker, you will play an important part in ensuring our school remains safe, secure, compliant and maintained to a high standard for our children, staff and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the security, opening and closing of the school site
- Managing and undertaking day-to-day maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the school and grounds
- Coordinating and monitoring contractors working on site
- Supporting the school's health and safety, fire safety and risk assessment arrangements
- Carrying out regular site and safety inspections
- Undertaking minor repairs, maintenance and improvement projects
- Operating and monitoring heating, lighting, CCTV, alarm and other site systems
- Supporting PAT testing, COSHH compliance and statutory site records
- Monitoring and maintaining the school minibus
- Supporting staff with low-level ICT issues
- Working with and supporting the school's Caretaker
- Helping ensure the school grounds, outdoor areas and facilities are safe and well-presented throughout the year

As a key holder, you will also have responsibility for responding to emergencies affecting the premises outside normal school hours when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is dependable, practical, creative and able to use their own initiative, while working positively as part of the wider school team.
Ideally, you will have:
- An NVQ Level 3 in a related subject, or equivalent
- Experience of minor building repairs and maintenance
- Experience of managing a building and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- A good understanding of health and safety
- A full UK driving licence
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
- The ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively under pressure
- A positive and professional approach when dealing with children, colleagues, parents, contractors and visitors.
Experience of working in a school and managing staff would be advantageous but is not essential. MIDAS and PAT testing training are required, although applicants who are willing to undertake this training will also be considered. First aid qualifications are desirable.

Our Site Manager is an important member of the school community. We are therefore looking for someone who is creative, resilient, approachable and professional, has high standards and understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding when working within a specialist school environment.
This is a physically active position involving indoor and outdoor work, including moving furniture and equipment, undertaking practical maintenance, working at height using ladders where necessary, litter picking, clearing outdoor areas and gritting during adverse weather
