Site Manager – HV Substations

Location: North Wales

Contract: September 2026 – September 2027

IR35: Outside IR35

Certifications: CSCS, SMSTS, NG TP137 & First Aid

Spencer Ogden are seeking an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of a major HV Substation project in Dinorwig, Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced site professional with a strong background in high-voltage substations, electrical infrastructure and major construction projects.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of site activities, working closely with project management, engineering, contractors and client teams. You will coordinate site operations, ensure works are delivered in line with programme, quality and HSE requirements, and manage subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Manage day-to-day site activities associated with HV substation construction and installation.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, site teams and specialist contractors.
  • Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with approved construction methodologies.
  • Monitor progress against the project programme and identify potential delays or issues.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and the wider delivery team.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with relevant technical, quality and HSE requirements.
  • Support site planning, coordination and progress meetings.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Manage site documentation, permits, RAMS and associated construction records.
  • Liaise with the client and other project stakeholders throughout delivery.
  • Identify and resolve site issues to maintain project progress.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager / Construction Manager within HV substations or major electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of HV substation construction and installation.
  • Previous experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
  • Strong knowledge of site HSE and construction procedures.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or energy projects.
  • CSCS certification.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • NG TP137 certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in Dinorwig, Wales for the duration of the contract.

  • The day rate is inclusive of travel and accommodation.
