Freelance Site Manager
Location: East Midlands, Derbyshire, Derby
Job Type: Contract, Full-Time Monday - Friday
Salary: £245 - £250 per day
We are looking for a Freelance Site Manager for a 4-week contract on a hospital refurbishment project in Derby. This role requires a proactive and organised individual to oversee the daily operations on site, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality.
Job Duties
- Manage and supervise all site activities to ensure the project progresses according to plan and within the allocated timescale.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth workflow and resolve any issues promptly.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly followed, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
- Monitor and control site costs and resources to meet budgetary requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of site progress, daily reports, and site meetings.
- Oversee quality control processes to guarantee compliance with specifications and standards.
- Facilitate clear communication between the client, design team, and site operatives.
- Manage site logistics, including deliveries, storage of materials, and site security.
- Ensure compliance with environmental policies and sustainable construction practices where applicable.

Required Qualifications
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
- Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- Current First Aid at Work certification.
- Asbestos Awareness training.
- Fire Marshall training.
Experience
- Proven experience managing commercial refurbishment projects, preferably within hospital or healthcare environments.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in complex construction sites.

Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of construction processes, health and safety legislation, and building regulations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
- Competence in using project management and site documentation software.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional requirement for extended hours to meet project deadlines.
- Work is primarily based on site, requiring regular presence in a construction environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times on site.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic and potentially challenging environment.
- Compliance with all site safety rules and company policies is essential.
