Your new company

A leading UK main contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a major, high-profile project in Glasgow. Working as part of an established site team on a large-scale public sector development, you will take responsibility for managing the external envelope package, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Your new role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the external envelope works, including façade, cladding, roofing, waterproofing, steel frame interfaces, and associated subcontract packages.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing subcontractors on site and coordinating daily activities
  • Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme requirements
  • Monitoring quality and compliance with specifications
  • Driving site health and safety standards
  • Conducting progress meetings and reporting into the Project Manager
  • Resolving technical and logistical challenges associated with the external works package
  • Working closely with design, commercial and project delivery teams

This is a long-term freelance opportunity on a flagship construction project offering continuity of work and the chance to be involved in one of Scotland's most significant developments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering external envelope packages on large construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of façade, cladding, roofing and building envelope systems
  • Main contractor experience is essential
  • SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications
  • Excellent communication and subcontractor management skills
  • Ability to drive programme, quality and health & safety performance
  • Experience working on large-scale public sector, custodial, healthcare or commercial projects would be advantageous
