Murphy is recruiting for a Site Manager to work with Energy for WRIP (pipeline in Cotswolds)

Initially based at Wigan onsite from January 2027

A Day in the Life of a Murphy Site Manager

  • Assisting Murphy PM in matters relating to the Project with the Client and the Regulatory Authorities, and any other associated parties.
  • Assisting Murphy PM Plan and deliver all work ensuring it is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
  • Assisting Murphy PM to ensure risk assessments are created, in place, and reviewed as and when required.
  • Weekly review of plant, labour, and materials to ensure resources are in place and in line with forecasted expenditure.
  • Production of time sheets.
  • Weekly Allocation sheets submitted to QS’s for review and issuing to Client.
  • Plant List review completed every week and any queries issued.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.
  • Co-ordination and supervision of various Subcontractors in the performance of their assigned Scope of Work and for execution of work in a manner that is consistent with Project Quality requirements.
  • Ensuring that prescribed Project requirements are properly implemented, controlled, and effectively documented.
  • Having knowledge of Project requirements and for requesting technical assistance and services from the Project Engineers as required.
  • Liaison with the Client.
  • Providing construction and technical assistance to Project Management.
  • Ensuring all Construction Managers have the relevant information to carry out their duties.
  • Control of Operation Procedures and Work Instructions to be implemented on the Project.
  • Manage Sensible Monitoring Plans.
  • Compliance with all responsibilities detailed in Construction Phase Plan, Project Quality Plan, and Environmental Plan.
  • Attend Weekly Progress Meeting and produce report showing progress in the week and any potential issues with photos.

  • Must have previous experience as a Site Manager or looking to take the next step up.
  • Ideally with gas experience and/or linear project knowledge.
  • HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
  • Experience in delivering Civil Engineering/Construction Schemes.
  • Extensive background in site/contract management delivering contracts of similar value.
  • Solid health and safety knowledge and will hold a health and safety-related qualification.
