Job Roles and Responsibility

To manage H&S, Environment & Quality on all the sites, you are responsible for making sure all construction work under your control is carried out correctly. You will have to make sure all the correct permits for the activity being undertaken are issued. You will be responsible for any direct labour & subcontractors, materials/plant on site. You must ensure they all comply with the industrial engineering codes of practice, company procedures and relevant safety standards. You will also be responsible for the programme deadlines and make sure everything is done cost-effectively and to the client’s satisfaction.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Be familiar with and demonstrate a commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
  • Implement the relevant requirements of the SMS and EMS within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that their staff receive or have access to copies of the Environmental Policy and are kept informed of environmental developments and issues.
  • Ensure that the Health & Safety Environmental Policy are effectively communicated to the workforce, particularly to those engaged in activities that have been identified as likely to have a significant environmental impact.

Principal Duties & Accountabilities

  • Lead by example with regards to SHEQ (PPE) to motivate your teams. Compliance with Specific Risk Assessment and Method Statements for construction activities.
  • Making sure your teams do not Operate any Plant Equipment unless trained, appropriately certificate and authorised.
  • Liaise with customers at site level and making sure all details are given to the Customer Liaison Manager for follow up.
  • Report any Hazards / Near Misses / Accidents / Incidents / Utility Damages directly to the SHEQ Manager and via the company reporting systems.
  • Ensure all Direct and Sub-contractors teams follow Codes of Practice & Adhere to NRSWA requirements.
  • To maintain @identify any training requirements with your permit, water hygiene card first aid etc.

We have a 5-year Framework with an option to extend for a further 5 years. The scheme areas cover Hampshire and East & West Sussex, so a company van will be offered along with fuel card to suitable candidates.

You will be managing up to 4 teams within a geographical area, which could be direct Sub-contract.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ensure all work is undertaken safely and that actions taken do not endanger you or others.
  • Ensure team members carry out the works in a safe and effective manner.
  • Cooperate with management and ensure all construction works are carried out to a high quality and conform to Industry Standards, Codes of Practice.
  • Enforce and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures & make sure that all documentation is kept up to date on site.

Key Working Relationships

Liaison with:

  • Internal - Framework Delivery Manager, Senior Operations Manager, SHEQ Manager, Customer Liaison Manager, Q.S and manage working teams
  • External - Client Reps, sub-contractors, suppliers

Person Specification

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous Team Lead/Supervisory experience working within Utilities sector, with preference to clean water
  • NRSWA Supervisor
  • CAT & GENNY Trained and competent
  • Awareness of Streetworks Noticing / CoP and SLG site set Ups
  • EUSR Water hygiene
  • SSSTS / SMSTS
  • Awareness or Pipe Joint Method – Electrofusion / Buttfusion etc
  • Good IT skills and awareness
  • Awareness and Preferred Temporary works trained
  • Clean Driving Licence
