Site MS&T Lead / Senior Manager

Skipton, Yorkshire - on site role

The Opportunity

  • This role is the MS&T leader within the manufacturing site and accountable decision maker regarding technical matters on site.
  • Provide technical leadership and direct line management to the MS&T team on site including product & process as well as validation teams, ensuring MS&T are delivering the technical direction to the site organisation.
  • Key member of the site leadership team (SLT).
  • Manage product technology transfers to the site from Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs), Dechra manufacturing sites, or transfers within the site from one production line to another.

So, what will you be doing?

This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Provide technical leadership for the industrialisation of new products to site, in collaboration with the Co-Development Director - ensuring technical execution is delivered.
  • Lead technical aspects of manufacturing optimisation and transfer projects, including transfers of existing products from other Dechra manufacturing sites or contract manufacturers.
  • Lead the technical assessment and evaluation of processes related to troubleshooting of commercial products, evaluating and selecting new manufacturing equipment and/or technologies including training production personnel.
  • Identify potential improvements to commercial products and implement formulation and/or process optimisation initiatives - aligned to continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations and lead the resolution of production-related issues affecting commercial products.
  • Evaluate and qualify alternative sources of raw materials when required in support of PPV improvements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve formulation and process-related issues within internal manufacturing operations - driving improvement in process capability & overall robustness.
  • Manage employee performance and development within Site MS&T team.
  • Foster employee motivation, engagement, and job satisfaction through effective leadership practices.
  • Promote organisational values and culture through personal example and by encouraging desired behaviours in others including collaboration and sharing across sister sites.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Global MS&T Director that are consistent with the nature and scope of the position.

We're particularly keen to hear from those who have/are:

  • The ideal candidate will have a B.Sc., MSc or PhD in life sciences, engineering, pharmaceutics, chemistry, or similar fields.
  • Strong industrial experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing (MS&T), preferably with experience in the development and scale-up of drug products.
  • Practical hands on knowledge and understanding of small molecule or biological pharmaceutical manufacturing and / or development.
  • This is a leadership role and part of the senior site team, thus demonstrated leadership of a scientific team is essential, providing the technical guidance for the site team.

Due to the nature of our business, all successful candidates will be required to complete a basic DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service check) before employment can commence, and at regular intervals during employment. This check will be paid for by Dechra.
