Site Operations Leader
We're seeking a results-driven Site Operations Leader to lead, optimise and grow electronics manufacturing assembly operations, developing them to world-class levels.
This role focuses on driving continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to achieve zero WIP (Work-in-Progress), zero errors, zero stoppages, and world-class quality standards with zero customer returns under warranty.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in PCBA manufacturing, including SMT, THT, AOI and assembly processes (both manual and automated), with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive machine and process evolution while continuously reducing manufacturing cost per unit.
A central part of the role involves working in close partnership with the wider group's manufacturing centre of excellence to adopt and integrate leading electronics manufacturing practices and technologies, helping elevate the site to a benchmark 'Best in Class' facility — leading the charge on Industry 4.0 and digital transformation initiatives, eliminating process waste, and driving improvements in lead time, efficiency and overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Oversight — plan, coordinate and control manufacturing operations across SMT, THT and assembly lines; drive real-time shop-floor decision-making; maintain zero WIP through planning/scheduling; oversee shift handovers and production schedules; ensure compliance with safety standards and company policy.
- Lean Manufacturing & Process Improvement — champion 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and Kanban; identify and eliminate waste; lead cross-functional CI projects and root cause analysis.
- Quality Assurance — drive a quality culture across all lines, ensuring adherence to IPC standards; resolve product/process non-conformances with Quality Engineering.
- Technical Leadership — expert-level hands-on support across SMT, THT, soldering, AOI, ICT and functional test; lead diagnostics and root cause analysis; drive machine capability enhancement and evaluate new tech for feasibility/ROI; champion a technical evolution roadmap aligned to Industry 4.0/Smart Factory concepts; mentor engineering and technical staff; coordinate with equipment suppliers and automation partners.
- People Management — lead, coach and develop supervisors, line leaders and operators; foster a high-performance, accountability-driven culture.
- Industry 4.0 & Digital Transformation — lead strategic integration of digital tools; champion data-driven decision-making and real-time monitoring; implement predictive maintenance, digital twins, automated data capture and advanced analytics; work with IT and engineering to embed digital capability.
- Financial Oversight — own production-related budgets and operational costs; assess capital/operational resource needs with sound financial justification.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting — deliver clear, data-driven KPI reporting and actionable insight to senior leadership.
- Strategic Execution & Team Leadership — build and lead a high-impact team; partner with the COO on forward-looking operational strategy.

Qualifications, experience and desirable skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years in electronics manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a production leadership role
- Strong knowledge of SMT, THT and PCB assembly processes/equipment
- Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Zero WIP practices
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and communication skills
- Experience with ERP/MES systems and manufacturing KPIs
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex industrial projects
- Six Sigma certification or Lean Manufacturing certification
- Experience in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume electronics manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0, automation and digital manufacturing technologies
