About the role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. If you are passionate about leveraging modern observability frameworks, open standards like OpenTelemetry, and AWS CloudWatch to keep critical systems running smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Implement Observability: Design, implement, and maintain robust, enterprise-grade observability solutions using OpenTelemetry (OTel) and AWS CloudWatch to ensure the health, performance, and availability of our cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
  • Standardize Telemetry Collection: Architect and deploy OpenTelemetry Collectors—including AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT)—to standardize the collection, processing, and exporting of metrics, traces, and logs across multi-account AWS environments.
  • Distributed Tracing & APM: Implement distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry SDKs and AWS X-Ray (or AWS AppSignals) to enable end-to-end application performance monitoring, dependency mapping, and rapid root-cause analysis.
  • SLOs & Alerting Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets. Implement proactive alerting strategies using CloudWatch Alarms, composite alarms, and anomaly detection.
  • Log Analytics & Correlation: Utilize AWS CloudWatch Logs and CloudWatch Logs Insights to analyze, query, and correlate structured logs with metrics and traces, accelerating mean time to resolution (MTTR).
  • Incident Response & Automation: Develop and refine incident response playbooks. Configure and manage incident routing (e.g., PagerDuty) integrated with AWS EventBridge and CloudWatch Alarms to ensure swift resolution of incidents and minimize downtime.
  • Performance & Capacity Planning: Continuously assess system performance through capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning, leveraging CloudWatch Container Insights and custom OTel metrics.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Participate in the design and deployment of infrastructure automation (using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation) to provision and manage the observability pipeline consistently.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the documentation of observability best practices, standard operating procedures, and incident response processes to foster a strong engineering culture.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
