SRE at Capital On Tap

The role sits within the BAR (Banking and Repayments) Team, tasked with building and scaling payments and card systems. These foundational elements power our financial platform, ensuring it’s quiet, robust, and seamless for our users.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you’ll:
- Design, build, and monitor systems to ensure they’re fast, reliable, and scalable, while preventing issues proactively.
- Use SLAs, SLIs, and SLOs to guide feature launches without compromising service stability.
- Manage & automate resources across Azure, Datadog, NGINX, and Cloudflare.
- Develop and monitor Kubernetes and Serverless resources, ensuring optimal infrastructure performance.
- Maintain infrastructure code with Terraform and CRDs / Crossplane.
- Enhance systems, processes, and technologies by consulting stakeholders to improve platform performance.
- Engage with new application architecture & design processes to guarantee adopting modern best practices.
- Design automation, tooling or practices to reduce toil and higher efficiency of team workloads.
- Align with the product team on SLA targets and core service objectives.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineers to design automated systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Work with the customer facing teams to improve user experience by optimising labour intensive procedures.
- Troubleshoot incidents to mitigate customer impact.
- Maintain and support existing CI/CD stack including Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy & Flux.

Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Proven public cloud management skills (Azure is advantageous).
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Octopus, Flux or similar).
- Hands-on expertise with Linux and Microsoft Windows systems.
- Strong familiarity with cloud monitoring tools (preferably DataDog).
- Comfortable working with Kubernetes & Docker ecosystems.
- Experience in at least one scripting language (Python, PowerShell, Go preferred).
Other:
- Placed an emphasis on clear, prompt communication and help to drive cross-functional collaboration in an agile environment.
- Demoed experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - specifically writing, managing, and optimising infrastructure using Terraform or Pulumi.
- Deep passion for pushing financial technology and **"behind the scenes" challenges within a team solving complex business issues.

Interview Process
The hiring journey at Capital on Tap is structured as follows:
- 30-minute intro + CV review & values discussion with a Talent Partner.
- 60-minute technical conversation with the Team Manager (getting to know you and your thought process).
- 75-minute technical task + 30-minute interview with Head of Platform Engineering.
