About The Opportunity
We are partnering with a high performing digital product organisation to appoint a Site Reliability Engineer in Auckland.
This is a pivotal, hands on role sitting at the centre of their cloud-native journey. You will be the go to SRE, reporting to the CTO and working closely with a collaborative Digital team to lift reliability, performance and operational maturity across a modern platform.
Day to day, you will use code, automation and smarter processes to improve availability, latency, efficiency, monitoring, incident response and capacity planning. Longer term, you will help build a hyper-scalable platform and strengthen continuous integration and configuration-as-code practices.
This position includes participation in an on call roster as part of the overall salary package.
What You’ll Bring
You are a practical, proactive engineer who enjoys owning outcomes and continuously improving how platforms run in production.
Core Experience
- Strong AWS experience (production), ideally across IaaS and PaaS services
- Kubernetes, ideally EKS
- Infrastructure as code, especially Terraform (CloudFormation and Ansible also useful)
- CI/CD and GitOps-style deployment patterns
- Containerisation with Docker
- Linux lifecycle experience in cloud environments (images/containers, patching, baseline security, networking fundamentals)
- Observability: monitoring, alerting, APM, incident response and post-incident improvement

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
