Site Reliability Engineer - AWS
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Remote (London)
Rate: £400 - £450 per day DOE
Status: OUTSIDE IR35
Clearance: Eligible for SC Clearance
Start Date: ASAP
Summary:
My market leading client are looking to secure the services of a SRE to assist with critical project work over the coming months, working in a heavily AWS orientated environment. Ideally coming from a consultancy background with strong GDS experience, consultants will need to be available to start within a few weeks.
Essential Skills
- Strong AWS experience, including EC2, ECS, RDS, DocumentDB, CloudWatch and associated monitoring services
- Experience building and maintaining observability solutions using tools such as Splunk, CloudWatch, Grafana or similar platforms
- Proven experience monitoring, supporting and optimising live production services in a high-availability environment
- Strong background in incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), troubleshooting and service restoration
- Experience investigating and resolving application, infrastructure and performance-related issues in live environments
- Ability to analyse logs, metrics and traces to proactively identify service degradation and reliability risks
- Proven knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, C#, Python or JavaScript, with the ability to understand, troubleshoot and debug application code
- Experience working with SLOs, SLIs, alerting strategies and reliability engineering best practices
- Understanding of automation and operational tooling to improve service stability and reduce manual intervention
- Client-facing experience, supporting issue investigation, stakeholder communication and incident resolution

Desirable Skills
- Experience with Splunk administration and dashboard creation
- Knowledge of Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Scala experience
- Consultancy and GDS delivery experience within the public sector
