Plan A Digital is recruiting for a growing FinTech company building high-performance infrastructure for global financial markets.
We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer with strong Linux and network engineering foundations who enjoys working across the full infrastructure stack.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For
You will ideally come from a strong Linux systems administration, network engineering or infrastructure engineering background, with experience across both systems and networking.
Key experience includes:
- Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
- Linux kernel configuration, tuning and performance
- Hands-on physical network hardware
- Switch configuration and VLANs
- Routing, routing protocols, TCP/IP and subnetting
- Network and connectivity troubleshooting
- Bare-metal server provisioning and physical infrastructure
- Ansible or similar configuration automation
- Ability to code and build tooling in Python, Go, Java or another programming language
- Bash/shell scripting
- AWS and/or GCP
- Experience working with external technology or infrastructure vendors
Experience with technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or F5 would be particularly relevant.

The Environment
Automation is central to the team, with infrastructure configuration and provisioning heavily automated. You should bring strong technical depth in your core areas, while being comfortable working across the wider infrastructure, taking ownership and learning new technologies.
Experience with SAML, OAuth2, Kerberos, Active Directory/Entra ID or PostgreSQL HA would be useful but is not essential.
Why Join?
- Up to £120K base salary
- Stock options + comprehensive benefits
- Remote-first within the UK
- Highly technical engineering environment
- Work on mission-critical infrastructure within financial markets
- Broad exposure across Linux, networking, bare metal, automation and cloud
- Significant autonomy and engineering ownership
- Opportunity to build and automate infrastructure rather than simply maintain it
This opportunity will particularly suit an engineer who has developed strong Linux and networking fundamentals and wants a role where physical infrastructure, automation and cloud all form part of the same engineering environment.
If that sounds like your background, we would be keen to speak with you.
