Role Overview
At PepsiCo UK, we’re proud to make some of the nation’s favourite snacks and drinks—like Walkers, Quaker, Doritos, Pipers, and Monster Munch. With sites across the UK, including our Quaker mill in Cupar and Doritos factory in Coventry, we’re also home to one of the world’s largest crisp factories in Leicester.
We are looking for a passionate and influential leader to drive our site's Sustainability and Resource Conservation (RECON) agenda. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering strategies that reduce energy, water and waste consumption while supporting operational excellence, cost reduction and environmental compliance.
Working across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Leadership teams, the successful candidate will champion a culture of sustainability, ensuring conservation principles are embedded into everyday activities and long-term business planning.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Leicester Manufacturing energy resource conservation program (RECON), driving the site energy and water reduction plan.
- Building a strategic roadmap in alignment with the maturity model, developing capability and empowering all personnel along the journey.
- Liaise and negotiate with external contractors, council services and other relevant organizations for performance and best value.
- Proactively seek out projects and initiatives which will reduce energy or waste.
- Responsible for Safety and Environmental Management across span of responsibility to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
- Building the energy annual operating plan budget
- Develop a +5-year energy saving program in align with site productivity plans.
- Manage the assets associated with energy reading and monitoring.
- Manage and maintain accurate and timely records for energy monitoring.
- Benchmark energy consumption against best practice guidelines and manage all elements with legislation.
- Implementing energy management processes, internal and external reporting on energy consumption and initiatives
- Co-ordinating with technical staff and undertaking energy surveys, feasibility studies and implementing energy reduction projects, and supporting the engineering and project teams to implement energy reduction projects.

Qualifications

BTEC HNC in a relevant electromechanical discipline – or equivalent vocational experience

NEBOSH General Certificate

IOSH Managing Safety Critical Experiences:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical disciplines, ideally from within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience - In a similar role with transferable competency set as above.
- Proven experience with Carbon Reduction Legislation as-well as Energy Saving Opportunity Schemes (ESOS), energy usage and potential energy savings.
- Familiarity with computer software (word, excel, etc.) and knowledge of computer maintenance planning systems (MP2 or SAP) would also be advantageous.
- Experience of a fast paced, technical manufacturing environment.
- Passion for Operations and experience of leading teams across a 24x7 Operation.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage in all directions, including influencing upwards in the organisation and across other sites and functions.
- Dealing with external agencies e.g. HSE, EA.
- Comfortable dealing with difficult discussions and situations.
- A team player who is able to adapt to different audiences with a strong coaching style.
- Excellent coordination skills, able to manage own time and gain time commitment from others with reference to action and improvement plans.
