Site Technician
Site Technician (16-Hour/Week) – Tutors Grange Kingshurst Academy, Birmingham

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Site Technician to join our Facilities Management (FM) segment, based at Tudor Grange Kingshurst Academy in Birmingham, UK.
Hours: 16 hours per week (over 40 weeks per year), with flexible scheduling at hourly rate of £13.50/hour.

The Role: Key Responsibilities
The Site Technician will perform a range of technical and administrative duties, often requiring a multi-skilled approach under BAM FM HR, Health & Safety (H&S), Quality, and Environmental policies.
Core Duties:
✅ Responding to requests & resolving issues
- Address inquiries, non-urgent problems, and defects from school staff, contractors, and BAM colleagues.
✅ General site maintenance & porterage
- Proactively tackle day-to-day maintenance needs, including equipment/lodge porterage (arcade duties) where relevant.
✅ Quality customer experience
- Deliver high-speed response and fast completion rates to ensure effective maintenance operations.
✅ Maintenance management & programming
- Establish, update, and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs.
- Schedule and coordinate recurring maintenance tasks.

✅ Procurement & stock management
- Provide detailed specifications for spares, consumables, and tools when ordering through the BAM helpdesk.
- Safely store spare parts, materials, tools, and chemicals under secure protocols.
✅ Reporting & compliance
- Log, track, and resolve maintenance requests via the internal helpdesk within agreed timelines.
- Train and support team members on technical procedures as needed.
- Operate within H&S policies, including internal and contractor safety protocols.
- Produce risk and method statements for maintenance tasks.
✅ Building Management Systems (BMS) & security
- Ensure daily room setups, coordinate porterage requests, and maintain the BMS environment.
- Generate, analyse, and report on monthly BMS status updates.
- Provide emergency site access and out-of-hours cover for urgent repairs.
✅ Other duties as required
- Additional role-specialised tasks assigned by line management.

Who Are We Looking For?
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience in one or more trade-related disciplines (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, carpet maintenance, porterage).
- Strong health and safety knowledge consistent with DSI, Ofted, and RoSPA policies.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
- Exellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders (school staff, visitors, contractors).
- Reliable time management to meet deadlines and uphold service standards.
- Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, BAM helpdesk systems).

- Full UK driving licence required (Fleet management access is onsite and may be liaised as part of specific routes).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in maintenance in an educational institution (schools, colleges, training facilities).
- Knowledge of catering, cleaning and flooring standards, HVAC, or other technical systems.
