Site Welding Engineer
Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Pay: £400 PAYE to £500 Umbrella

Assigned on project site execution location for Nuclear business, the site Welding Engineer (WE) is responsible for close supervision and monitoring of subcontractors safe and competent planning, preparation, and execution of welding activities at site, including involvement in review of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), welders qualification records, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operators qualification records, welding inspectors qualification, etc., according to applicable codes, regulations, and technical specifications.
Job Assignments, Measurements & Sphere of Influence
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Conduct Site Quality Induction;
- Ensure site quality objectives are monitored and tracked;
- Review the List of Applicable Documents submitted by the subcontractors;
- To review ITPL and other documents submitted by subcontractors;
- Monitor the quality activities of the partners and subcontractors versus the Inspection and Test Plan, check the results of the tests are documented according to the relevant standards / project requirements;
- Involve in ensuring all witness and hold points as per the ITPL are notified to the client;
- Involve in site inspection / testing;
- Verify the welding documentation to ensure accuracy
- Monitor welder failure rate;
- Verify that no NCFSI in site procured material by the partner / subcontractors;
- Monitor and track site QRA to ensure compliance;
- Ensure compliance to Nuclear Safety requirements / PED / EN;
- Verify and review the completeness and correctness of the Site Work Conformance Files (SWCF);
- Train the partners and subcontractors the use of the quality tools;
- Managing the review of the SMF;
- Perform quality audit and random inspections internally, and on partners and subcontractors;
- Submit monthly report to SQM;
- Do any other quality task delegated by the Site Quality Manager.

Job Specifics

Profile
Education & Trainings
Mandatory (MUST)
- Engineering or bachelor degree;
- ISO9001 lead auditor qualification.
- Welding Inspector Qualification
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)
- Engineering or university or bachelor degree in quality management, mechanical or electrical;
- NDT qualification in PT, MT, UT & RT.
Professional Experience
Mandatory (MUST)
- Experience in working in multicultural construction site for at least 2 complete projects in quality role;
- Knowledge and experience in piping, mechanical;
- Experience in welding inspection;
- Experience in Non-Destructive Examination (NDT);
- Experience and knowledge in the use of MS office (word, excel, power point), Adobe Professional, Nero.
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)
- Experience in corrosion protection (painting, galvanizing).
Language Skills
Mandatory (MUST)
- Fluent in English (oral & written)
Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)
- Any other languages.
