Skilled Fitter
As a Skilled Fitter, you will be part of a small, experienced assembly team responsible for manufacturing and testing industrial mixing equipment to the highest standards of quality and safety. Using your mechanical fitting expertise, you'll assemble products from engineering drawings, conduct testing and help deliver reliable equipment to customers worldwide.
You'll receive structured on-the-job training to become familiar with NOV's specialist products while using your existing mechanical fitting experience to become productive quickly. For the right individual, this role also offers the opportunity to develop towards a future Leading Hand position as part of the department's succession planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble industrial mixer equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and manufacturing procedures.
- Fit mechanical components, gearboxes and assemblies to specification.
- Carry out production testing and complete accurate test documentation.
- Inspect components before assembly to ensure they meet quality requirements.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
- Work independently while collaborating with the wider assembly team to achieve production targets.
- Record production activities accurately.
- Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and Health, Safety & Environmental compliance.
- Support other production activities within the department when required.
- Travel occasionally to support business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Practical experience as a Mechanical Fitter following completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience assembling mechanical equipment using hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently after a short familiarisation period.
- Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift pattern (06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00).
- Strong commitment to quality, safety and teamwork.
Preferred
- Experience working with rotating equipment.
- Experience assembling industrial mixers or agitators.
- Mechanical seal knowledge.
- Basic electrical experience.
- Motor wiring certification.
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience within food, pharmaceutical, distilling, mining or oil & gas industries.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and an interest in future career progression.
