We’re looking for a Skilled Labourer to join our successful repairs, maintenance and compliance team in Newton Abbot. You’ll support experienced tradespeople across responsive repairs, void homes and larger projects while developing your own practical trade skills.
At Templer Homebuild, you’ll make a real difference in the Teignbridge community by helping to maintain around 4,000 Teign Housing homes.

The Skilled Labourer role:
- Trade support: Work alongside qualified trade operatives, assisting with day-to-day repairs, planned programmes and larger projects while completing appropriate trade tasks.
- Driving and site clearance: Drive a long-wheelbase van to make collections and deliveries, maintain clean and tidy work areas, and load or unload waste from larger projects, including kitchen and bathroom removals and installations.
- Materials: Collect and deliver site materials, including large sheet materials and door sets.
- Quality and initiative: Use your initiative to meet job targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship and following safe working practices.
- Health and safety: Keep yourself, your colleagues and customers safe by maintaining secure working environments and completing all required documentation accurately and on time.
What will you bring as a Skilled Labourer?
- Previous experience as a Labourer or General Operative in a domestic construction environment, or a similar setting. You will have supported work in one or more areas, such as renovations, extensions, housebuilding or general building projects. You should understand the basic principles of working in occupied homes and be eager to develop a long-term career in a skilled trade.
- Flexibility and a can-do attitude, with the drive to complete your work to the highest standards possible, whilst always adhering to the health and safety and best practice.
- Strong customer facing skills are essential, as you will often be the face of the business from our customers perspective.
- A full UK Driving License is essential for this role with use of company van.
