This full-time, on-site Skilled NVQ Level 3 Lift Repair Engineer role is based in the United Kingdom and supports trade-only lift service providers and maintenance contractors. The engineer will diagnose and carry out mechanical and hydraulic repairs on lifts, including suspension rope and belt replacement, brake and bearing work, drive components, and hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and pipework.

Day-to-day tasks include:
- Performing Type B and supplementary testing
- Assisting with escalator machine and gear repairs
- Coordinating with in-house machining teams for sheave repair and re-grooving
The role involves working to LEIA- and LOLER-aligned methods, preparing and following RAMS documentation, and ensuring safe access and scaffold integration on each project. The engineer will liaise with client field teams, provide clear technical updates, and complete projects to agreed specifications, quality standards, and deadlines.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Lift Engineering or a closely related discipline, with proven experience in lift repair and maintenance.
- Strong mechanical skills in lift systems, including suspension ropes/belts, brakes, bearings, drive components, and gearboxes.
- Experience with hydraulic lift systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and associated pipework.
- Knowledge and practical application of LEIA-aligned working practices, LOLER requirements, and industry health and safety standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and RAMS documentation, and to complete accurate service and test records.
- Competence in using lifting equipment and access systems, with awareness of scaffold integration and site safety protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on-site as well as within client project teams.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with trade clients and site teams, and a professional approach to customer service.
